FIRST STEP TO ETERNITY

FIRST STEP TO ETERNITY ————

JIM PECHA, B.ARCH. CHRISTIAN ARTIST,
MINISTER OF CREATIVITY, COPYRIGHT 2014 —————-

Yes, it’s easy to walk down the isle of a nearly empty Church, to view the art and architecture of the old adobe missions, but as a kid of eleven years old, it was very different. The Church was full of people singing, “come as you are,” the lights seemed overly bright and everything seemed to close in on me as I made the decision to go forward and accept Jesus Christ. That first step was very difficult and I had been putting it off for many weeks. Our Preacher was old, overly emotional and was not the spiritual evangelist type, but he was there for me at the front of the Church to accept me into the Body of Christ, the Church, with kindness, love and his soft hands. He Baptized me a week later at the Sunday evening service. I was not very knowledgeable about what all that meant, but God’s spirit began working in my life from that moment when he tugged at my heart and supported my first step into eternity. God was with me, more than my abusive family was with me, and I felt like I belonged to the Family of God.
