ACROSS THE MEADOW

ACROSS THE MEADOW ————–

At a quick glance you might think you could run across this meadow, but it’s a volcanic mountain meadow covered with grass hidden holes and lava rocks of all sizes. Some people have rockless meadows in their lives and they criticize the people who don’t, until they come across an unseen hole or boulder, and then they get some perspective. We reached this point and began running across the meadow, maybe twenty feet and then realized we couldn’t, too many obstacles in our carefree path; so then we walked with the strong breeze at our backs. I look at this picture and realize it was a metaphor for our lives, rocks and holes everywhere; so we needed to go slow. We still enjoyed the afternoon, the warmth of the sun and the coolness of the eleven thousand foot volcanic mountain, but we had to be constantly watching our steps. I wish I could be one of those people who have a smooth life and meadow in their lives, but I’m not; so I write about what I know about, finding some enjoyment amongst the rocks of abuse, cruelty and hatred aimed at us our entire lives. We have a warm, not hot, sunny day here in Albuquerque, New Mexico; so we will enjoy what we can.
