PAINTED MESA

PAINTED MESA —————

JIM PECHA, B.ARCH., CHRISTIAN ARTIST,

There are many areas of New Mexico that could be called painted mesas because of the variety of colors and textures. I’m not sure where this picture was taken, but it turned into a typical painted mesa image. The sun shines bright on the sandstone cliffs under the forming clouds, which by afternoon are chasing you back to Albuquerque with threatening lightning and heavy rain. Today, we are having a clear blue sky day for one of the few times this summer, which has seen record levels of rain and associated cloudiness. We will take a short ride to enjoy the reprieve from storms, the last was the remnants from Odile, the hurricane. I do enjoy the painted mesas around here and have painted a few.
