ISLETA PUEBLO

ISLETA PUEBLO ———-

JIM PECHA, B.ARCH. CHRISTIAN ARTIST,
MINISTER OF CREATIVITY, COPYRIGHT 2014 ———-

ISLETA is about twenty miles south of Albuquerque; so I’ve visited many times, mainly for the fresh made horno bread, the best bread I’ve ever tasted. Then there was a young artist who invited me down a few times for a meal, to see her artwork and to be her Anglo model. I painted many watercolors of the Church in a realistic style, but now I am enjoying a more abstract expressionism. All the pueblos have interesting histories and I have heard about and studied many of them. This was a winter day with snow on the ground; so I gave it a contrasting combination of warm colors, but the young woman of Isleta was filled with the greatest contrasts of culture and creativity.
