NO BREAD TODAY

NO BREAD TODAY ———-

JIM PECHA, B.ARCH. CHRISTIAN ARTIST,
MINISTER OF CREATIVITY, COPYRIGHT 2014 ———-

On a cold colorless winter day I walked through the pueblo with Zarka. The hornos were covered with snow and it didn’t look like anyone was going to brush them off for bread making. She was toasty within her animal fur boots, coat and hood, but had a sparkle in her eyes. We were going to her adobe home nearby where the fireplace was warming the room and fry bread was cooking in hot oil. The fragrance of piñon wood and bread filled the air along the dirt road. She had been fighting off winter and the cold by painting pictures of summer with colorful clothed children playing in the courtyard of the Church. She effectively blotted out the cold colorless pueblo scene.
