WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO SKETCHING ————

JIM PECHA, B.ARCH. CHRISTIAN ARTIST
MINISTER OF CREATIVITY, copywrite 2015 ————

It was a variation of, “would you like to come to my studio and see my etchings.” In the fall when college resumed, the young women in my art classes and others might get that invitation, “”would you like to go sketching?” The cottonwoods were in full yellow color along with the red chili peppers hanging along the Adobe doorways. The blue sky, most of the time, set the scene for a picnic along the Rio Grande River. Sketching was an excellent thing to do. It kept the attention on the beauty around us while a girl and I got to know each other. The sketching was usually a bust, but there were always many laughs along the way. Most people would really like to know how to draw, I gave them all lesson 1. The sky, yellow leaves and flowing river would always work their magic and an intimate afternoon in the shade of a cottonwood tree would always follow the art lesson. Not very many women get seduced by art and we both enjoyed the aesthetic romance. The last one to be seduced was to be my wife for forty-six years, but now her memory is gone of our most wonderful day along the river, sketching.
